Must weights total exactly 100%?

Can dimensions contain different numbers of criteria?

Why not multiply and simply add?
That works only when weights are expressed as fractions summing to one.
Document the weighting decision
Keep the rubric approval date and the rationale for each dimension weight. Otherwise a later reader cannot distinguish designed emphasis from an accidental spreadsheet setting.
If a dimension is not assessed, follow the stated missing-dimension rule; redistributing its weight changes the construct being measured.
Show unrounded dimension scores when auditing the final calculation, because early rounding can change a boundary result.
For comparison across assignments, confirm that dimension meanings remain stable even when individual criterion wording changes.
A dimension percentage should use only criteria belonging to that dimension. Moving a criterion between dimensions changes both its local score and the influence of the receiving weight.

Sensitivity checking can reveal how much one dimension drives the total. Recalculate with a plausible one-point change in each dimension while holding the published weights fixed.
