Slice counts need a pizza size

Slice count alone does not describe food volume: an eight-slice small pizza differs from an eight-slice large. Set the allowance for the size being ordered.

Whole-pizza rounding creates additional slices beyond the forecast. Check the supplied-slices result before adding another informal safety order.

Mixed diameters require separate scenarios

Mixed sizes or cuts should be calculated separately. Combining them under one slice count hides the actual amount of food.

Ordering fourteen-inch pizzas

Enter pizza eaters of 25 guests, slices per guest of 2.5 slices, slices per pizza of 8 slices, pizza diameter of 14 in, extra slice allowance of 10 %. Whole-pizza rounding

Method basis: Demand is expressed as slices with a visible buffer, then rounded upward to complete pizzas.

Comparing pizza orders fairly

Pizza diameter is included because slices are not comparable across sizes. The area output does not replace the slice-based order; it provides a check when comparing two vendor quotes or deciding whether a different diameter genuinely supplies more food.

For mixed sizes, run separate scenarios and compare total area as well as slices. A menu advertising ten slices per pizza can still supply less food than an eight-slice larger pizza. Cut count is a service choice, not a measure of dough or topping quantity.

Whole-pizza rounding already creates spare slices. Review the supplied-slices output before adding an informal extra pie. If a contingency is still needed, record it through the buffer so the order can be compared with actual leftovers.

Save size, cut, and surplus together

Keep the ordered diameter, slices per pizza, buffer, pizzas received, and slices left. The area comparison is most valuable when vendor size descriptions or cut practices change.

Run each size as a separate scenario or convert them to a shared area-based basis; slices are not equivalent across diameters.

Should children use the same allowance?
